New study claiming that discharging stable COVID patients to nursing homes early in the pandemic probably led to more cases. The flip side, as those who were there remember, is that we couldn't take care of non-COVID patients if we didn't do this. Pandemics are truly a no-win situation all round.

Showed this to my ER Dr. Spouse, he said “You know what we get for National Doctors Day? Free coffee and a bagel. Know what we get every day? Free coffee and bagels. What a joke.”
Big day for me. Physician burnout has been averted for another 12 months with a gift of an MGB branded lunch box and socks for national doctors day! Prior auths, piles of disability forms, huge referral wait lists and absent specialists, no problem.

I quit Twitter after seeing a tweet that I posted then deleted got dragged on EJMR. I realized that the anxiety and disruption outweigh any joys that I used to have, so I unplugged my account. I will reactivate at some point to keep my account, but don't plan to come back in foreseeable future.

This is a total disaster!
Just got the email from CMS that they are planning to discontinue physical access to the Medicare/Medicaid research files and force everyone to use the (incredibly expensive) VRDC. In the transition, they'll charge physical data users $10K/year to renew DUAs. This is bad.

Have a new paper: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam... Bottom line: in an emulated trial, benzodiazepine discontinuation was associated with small absolute *increases* in mortality and other harms, including nonfatal overdose, suicide attempt, suicidal ideation, and emergency department visits.
