i wrote a book once, ended up around 260k words, but i was able to re-read it repeatedly and edit it like two dozen times and in the end i realized if i could edit it that many times, the whole thing was kinda flawed
but anyone can write a book, "good" is a different story *rimshot*
That can also be perfectionism, because we are all our own worst critic. A professional writer has to eventually publish regardless of any improvements they want to make. Nothing will ever be perfect, because there isn't an objectively right way to make art.
I wrote a 200 page book called, "How to Write A Book".
All the pages were blank except the last, which read 'Like this.'
The publishers weren't impressed.
I saw this post on a Bluesky email.
I'm currently trying to write a cyberpunk novel that I had started a couple of years ago, But if my fifteen year old self could write 160 pages on the backstory of a character I created, then I guess it's time for me to create my own universe 10 years later.
You can always write in another medium.
I write graphic novels where you write the script similarly to a screenplay. I find that easier since my strengths are in summaries and descriptions.
