I see so many friends & illustrators leaving Instagram. It feels like the right move for all the horrible AI reasons (and it’s been ages since i felt like my posts had any visibility anyway) but it also feels like a loss of a creative community and like starting over in a defeated way.

Home from a trip visiting friends. It’s been years since i did this kind of tour: stayed at friends houses, did what they do. If i’d stayed at hotels, I’d never hear the voices my friends use with their pets or see the plants in their gardens or the colors of their socks. Their lovely lives.

This is the best use of the internet, always and forever. ❤️ we can lift each other up.

Depression and anxiety are a beast. i am really grateful for the friends who have been consistent in my life, especially this past year.

This is a challenge on every other platform! Yes, we love to share our art, and that can be nice in itself, but it’s connecting directly, feeling a sense of community, or at least folks taking an interest in any offline-ification that makes it sustainable.

Bluesky tip: most feeds are simple and algorithm-free. People mostly see what is posted or reposted directly by people they follow. Repost yourself and others often! If you see someone repost an older post that you already reposted before, go ahead and repost it again! 🙂

While dealing with theft of my art, I’m drafting 100s of copyright removal requests while i keep up w deadlines & holiday orders, deal w panic symptoms & significant lower income. Someone just wrote to me “I’m so sorry that your success also brings you so much pain.” I’m sure they mean well, but wtf

Etsy made a version of Spotify Wrapped for sellers, but each slide is more depressing than the next. It told me that there were 10 million other listings in my primary category, that i saved $9 on fees this year (but i pay thousands…) and that my top search term is my own name.

I am so tired of seeing my work copied, stolen, and counterfeited. This is my artwork, my sole source of income, and my passion, but it also results in a very particular hell that i cannot seem to escape.

This is appalling. Scholastic giving the option for schools to opt out of diverse books at book fairs. Diversity and inclusion should be part of education, not erasure and supremacy. Deeply concerning. Strange to publish books and then help to prevent children from reading them #BookSky #Diversity
