Just read Brian Aldiss’s “Billion Year Spree,” a history of sci-fi c. 1971, and he has an aside about how it’s hard to imagine sci-fi movies overtaking westerns.

A grizzled white man faces the grim reality of the untamed west, surely this is not a topic that has been interpreted in every fucking conceivable wah for a century. I don't think it's westerns that are even other problem, it's the fact that the same POV is always fucking centered.
