Just saw someone who was there covering it and said some of the potential jurors volunteered identifying info but clearly didn’t understand that they did. It’s still the journalist’s job to use good judgment where a subject or source who’s not a public figure might not understand the ramifications
reporters covering this shit have got to remember that anyone remotely identifiable is going to suffer a pile of death threats from the worst people in the country and you cannot give them a roadmap

When I’ve profiled people who’ve never been profiled before I’ve explained off the record, on etc to them before we start. Lotta old school people object to that. And sometimes I get berated by a subject who thinks I’m being condescending (hello, Shanley Kane, lol)

And you can’t just say off the record and it’s off the record, btw. It’s not like pressing A + B + down in a video game. It’s an agreement between journalist and source/subject and with very few exceptions, journalist will agree

In my experience if you roll from down to forward and hit B most journalists WILL shoot a fireball though.

Some journalist. A + B + Down doesn't do anything. ;)

Any journalist who objects to making sure a subject understands the rules are no better than unethical cops taking advantage of ignorant arrestees.
