feel like i got a little lucky in the DLC - the first thing i tried to fight was the furnace golem, not the Blackgaol Knight, and THAT fucking thing made it so clear to me that i needed to go out and get my scadutree levels up that i never had this problem

i fucking love the Elden Ring dlc. a huge amount of the area is full of transparent glowing things that look like the ghosts of gravestones. which is just such a perfectly edgy vibes-based imagery, because there's no way that's what they are, what would that even mean. but it's beautiful!

me: carefully choosing names for characters in my games to avoid repeating starting letters, sounds, etc. Elden Ring: "Rennala" and "Rellana" are two totally different and unrelated characters. so are "Greyoll" and "Greyll".

GOTTEM what a wildly fun fight i wish i could do it again immediately (what i call the "Sword Saint syndrome", that FromSoftware is so so good at)

WRITING TIP, something simple but it catches many of us out: if you have a great/fun idea for your story, *use it now*. Don’t save your ideas for some nebulous other story you might write tomorrow. I promise you’ll have more. Break your story’s status quo. Go a step further. Use the big idea.

so, i'm definitely going to write some more stuff about the process of making my first video game - how i went about it, lessons, etc. i already have some ideas for themes, lessons learned, etc., but is there anything y'all wanna know/ask about in particular?

man, i miss the bygone aesthetic and functionality of these cheap wraparound wired headphones. the flat earpieces went well with a variety of hair (or none); they signaled clearly when you were in Music Town Do Not Talk To Me; and they were wired so i never had my vibe screwed up by interference.

watched some DELICIOUS IN DUNGEON recently, and it's nice! it's charming and fun! but also, it's still afflicted by that weird thing in some anime, where a whole episode will be dedicated to teaching an adult character a lesson like "sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do" ????
