When that story was lighting up the internet someone made THE most adorable commemorative tshirt of a goofy smiling dog poking its head out of an elk corpse, and to this day one of my most profound regrets is I didn't buy one. It's not even archived at the Wayback Machine to be resurrectable. 😢
