How nice to learn through this preprint that the verbosity and bombast of AI prose is already infecting scientific writing. (I like that "fluff" is coming into vogue as the descriptor for AI vocab.) .) arxiv.org/pdf/2406.07016v1.pdf

AI Has Become a Technology of Faithwww.theatlantic.com Sam Altman and Arianna Huffington told me that they believe generative AI can help millions of suffering people. I’m not so sure.

If you need help pitching an oped you can email me lollardfish at gmail and I will help. I will do it for free because I think more experts, writing and accessible ways for the public is a fundamental good.
Junior Scholars: Project 2025 is now breaking through to public consciousness. The more people learn about it, the more they hate it. Now is a great time to search that website, go to the section of your expertise, and write an oped. Keep the drip of bad news for them coming, all the way to Nov.

Google has another strategy where it accepts being a low growth high dividend stock, sitting on its domination of search, maps, and mobile. Benevolent, always doing the right thing for users (so their near monopoly can never be threatened). Can't happen if trying to justify a 2.4T market cap though.

There’s a debate strategy often used by pseudoscience peddlers known as the Gish Gallop. The debater throws out a barrage of false claims, one after another, far too many for the opponent to ever actually refute them all. The opponent stalls as he tries to figure out what to respond to first.

Misinformation is everywhere, biggest problem on the internet. Algorithms cause it but not in the way you think; it's because of how people optimize algorithms. To fix it, make it harder for misinformation to get attention from millions. More at glinden.blogspot.com/2024/01/my-b...
