That and the overcorrection that gave them “Herbs”.

They definitely are. The protocol for naming metal elements is to take the "a" at the end of the oxide's name, and replace it with "um". Lithia (Li2O) becomes Lithium, Magnesia (MgO) becomes Magnesium, Alumina (Al2O3) should be Aluminum, why did the British add an "i" in there?

Asimov rolls in his grave every time, though he probably does a lot of rolling honestly.
