Yeah, this is a reminder that posting is not praxis. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen or literacy program
Besides actually helping your community, you're more likely to meet people there who would be useful in an uprising than you would online
this basically serves the same purpose as QAnon shit on the right. it projects itself as an aggressive form of political engagement, but it’s really just a retreat into fantasy and nihilism
I don't disagree that posting-as-praxis is an issue, but I will say that it's frustrating that it's consistently assumed here that all leftists are doing nothing but, especially given other action being purposefully not discussed for legal reasons. I can say many I know are very active offline.
This is right up there with “anyone using a pseudonym online is either a troll or doing something nefarious” in terms of internet generalizations that annoy me
Yes! We constantly warn each about not sharing the questionably legal stuff we're doing to support our communities, but then people misinterpret that as not giving a shit or only caring about "virtue signalling" or something.
Either way, I'd rather having someone signal virtue than the other thing.
It's the leftist I go to in my community for mutual aid, I go to them for information on safe places to travel. Its an extremely on take to say leftist only do bitching online and calling for a revolution.
Leftist know revolutions fail if support systems aren't in place
