hi #amquerying peeps! STILL fighting for my life to catch up w queries so I'll be closed through the rest of june. aiming to open back up *briefly* for a couple of weeks in july, then close for the rest of the summer/potentially until late fall after the frankfurt book fair (so, november)!!!

the thing about all the mask-off, surprise! publishing does not give a damn about 'diversity' reveals is that i desperately wanted to be proved wrong about it. in 2020 i could feel the disingenuousness in my gut but i was SO willing to be wrong 🙃 yet here we are, 4 years later

I try to remember that whenever we talk about how much of a fucked up horror show the world is, what we mean is that the world is full of good people being wronged and beauty being destroyed, that we risk losing all of it—not a denial of the good in the world but its affirmation.

I often think of the Siddiqi quote that “every border implies the violence required to maintain it,” and how one of the biggest tricks neoliberalism pulled off over the last 30 years is getting people to think the infrastructure of said maintenance could only ever be aimed outward or downward.
