Free idea for a Dem ad: a series of brief somber interviews with people who worked with classified documents explaining what the consequences would be for the most minor infraction. Then just show these photos
Shooting or no it should be gloves totally off from here.

There are a million ways to go after Trump that are completely legitimate and don't involve threats of violence, or even comparing him to Hitler (although if his VP saw the likeness, I don't know why we should be prohibited from pointing it out). The shooting should make no difference.

Side by side with photos of Hillary looking bored while she’s grilled about her server.

I feel like Democrats don't understand how Republicans have turned a lot of network news into the old political style papers of the early period of the country.
Avatar
it's a good idea, so i can guarantee the democrats won't do it

“How about we propose means-tested healthcare savings accounts with tax advantages instead?”

I ran a classified computer room in the 80s, and while the storage rules have probably changed a bit, documents have to be kept in locked containers, in secure enough rooms that are registered with DoD and have alarms and usually guards. This isn't enough for CONFIDENTIAL, much less TOP SECRET.
Avatar
CONFIDENTIAL docs can be kept in locked filing cabinets (with DoD-approved locks.) SECRET needs safes. And you have to have a clearance or cleared escort to go in the room, which Trump doesn't have, much less Nauta and the other defendant.
Avatar
Also the unbarred window in the Classified Documents Bathroom annoys me even more than the pile of boxes on the stage, though that was probably less secure and more temporary.

There were photos that showed the coat room door open during an event.

Remember all those 'reports' about Cannon's colleagues pressuring her to recuse or else Consequences? I'm guessing now that was all bullshit.

Remind me of the topic Khashoggi was investigating? That’s right. Kushners transfer of info to Saudi. Then trump sold them a bunch of weapons without congressional approval.
Avatar
as @mtsw.bsky.social points out, overstated claims don’t hurt - get press to push back “in fact, it was only hundreds of highly classified documents and we don’t know how many were sold”

Lots more Republican judges who don't care about national security will get lifetime positions on the federal bench if Trump is elected again (looking at you Hillary Clinton haters (because of national security), Republican prosecutor chose not to charge Biden because it wasn't the same as Trump).
Avatar
what does hating Hillary have to do with national security?
Avatar
Some Republicans said they wouldn't vote for Hillary Clinton because of her email server. They considered her a national security threat (no documents marked classified were on her server). What Trump did is a million times worse, yet those same fuckers will probably vote for Trump.
Avatar
This is what pisses me off so much. We should not have to be giving them these ideas.

I hope ProPublica does a deep dive into Aileen “Loose” Cannon. There’s no way she’s making her prejudicial rulings without being either compensated or guided by someone supporting Trump.
Avatar
But “Nothing to see here,” said the judge. Appeals at the ready, but it’s all about slowing prosecution down until he’s protected by the office of the presidency.
Avatar
The first photo was arranged by the people doing the search, but the boxes sitting on the lip of the stage would also work
Avatar
First one is the best one since it clearly shows all the cover sheets. You lead with that one to quickly key people in on what they're seeing.

Yep. A friend of mine works for a gvt contractor where they have to leave their phone outside because security is that tight. They have to go through several days of training and recertification every year, even though they've been doing this for nearly 30 years.

Unless their goal is to make a complete mockery of themselves and our legal justice system. I’d strongly suggests not making this into an advertisement since there apparently isn’t any consequence. Just my thought.

I saw a video once upon a time that was the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark where it gets put in a crate marked top secret, but then it ends up in that room at Mar-a-Lago
