The Adirondack blue potato plants are starting to bloom! #gardening #growyourownfood #organic this is my first year growing potatoes and I have no idea how these will taste. We’ve never had them before. They are high in antioxidants and diabetic friendly. 🌱

Never grown them but have bought them at the farmers market and they are good!

I have roasted them before and also made potato salad. The color looks cool.

Oh roasted sounds good. Do they have a nutty flavor?
Avatar
I don’t remember a nutty flavor. Didn’t seem that different than other colors.

Ok good to know! Thanks Anne

They are very different tasting. Not at all what I expected. Once I got past that, I was OK with them.

Thanks snarky! I pinched the flowers today so more energy goes to them.

Great idea bc mashed, baked, fried, DelMonico, scalloped, twice baked, potato salad, gnocchi, smashed, cream of potato soup, Lyonnaise, you get the idea!

Have you had this variety? I’m looking for recipes.

I actually never heard of them till your post

I had never heard of them either but bought the seeds from the organic farm here in town. I think he had 5 varieties. This was different and I love different.

Same. I'm still ecstatic about these;

Oh I’m growing those too! But I need to plant more. Not all sprouted.

Pretty blossoms. I grew potatoes once many years ago in Atlanta. They were just plain potatoes and I somehow dug them all up while they were still small. Best potatoes I've ever had, though! All food tastes better garden-fresh.

I read up on these. When the growth lays down on the ground they are ready to dig. Now I need to find recipes lol

My local farmer grows and sells these!

Good morning Silver! They are different! I like them too. I was wondering what color they would be.
