My stepmother's mother, who emigrated from Guadalajara, operated a PCC car on Market St. in SF. I love those old, sparky beasts. Watching the sole power pole disconnect on a janky junction at night was a treat: bouncing against the live source, flashing with enthusiasm.

I grew up in SE Michigan. It's bad, it's it's not Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, LA roads bad though.

Actually if this accurately pictured Detroit about a quarter of the cars would be shooting each other while driving.

I can tell you haven't been there recently. Detroit has had a pretty huge turnaround as a city.
