No, you're remembering correctly. Lots of cheesy almost 1950s-era sci-fi movie-looking things. Lots of motorcycles. Lots of polyester jumpsuits. Big hair. I loved it!
Following a discussion of Kate Winslet movies (what, you don't have movie discussions at your house?), I recalled that one of my most favorite of her films is "The Dressmaker." Bizarre, hilarious and memorable.
With age comes wisdom, they say. Being a crabby old lady means I can say "no" without remorse (unlike my younger self, when I NEVER said no without guilt). Today, I resolved an issue by saying no, and I was instantly happy about my choice.
Why didn't I think of this earlier in life?
I had to call a business today about an issue because they wouldn't let me resolve it online, only to be put on hold, then told to email them about the issue. REALLY? You're using a Catch-22 to avoid customer service?
I've been on this platform about 13 seconds, and I already know that the level of discussion is so far superior to that other (bird) place. I'm in awe of the intelligence in the posts and the diversity of the topics.
Now don't get the big head. Or get stupid and disappoint me.
On "that other platform" I set up an account through which to have interesting discussions with writers, editors, publishers and others involved in the book business. There have been some great chats.
And then there've been THOSE people, asking the same dumb questions. Spare us!
I saw this on another platform, and I went back to read it twice. I totally agree with Mr. Schultz's statement that we can't support a draft dodging coward who refers to vets as suckers and losers.
