I don't think you give him enough credit: he's totally heard of a Smoots-Hawley Act and he knows it costs extra if she's even willing to do it. Also, he's pretty sure it's still a felony in some states, which is why it's better to ask for it on a boat in international waters.

The more I think about this, the more I think about the implications if you're right: DJT was notorious about his Twitter obsessions and not letting go of his phone; if he's letting staffers run the Truth Social account, it may corroborate stories that his mental state has seriously declined.
