It's incredible how he so almost gets it, entering prompts takes no effort. It's brainless but then the tech fatalism snaps in because if you don't have the imagination to make your own images you certainly don't have imagination to think of anything better to do with your time

Wtf. Thats why it was always natural to develop creativity first, then skill. AI bros go right to ‘instant gratification’ but never exercised their imagination before so they don’t know what they’re ‘making’ [having produced, rather] or, importantly, why they’re doing it. No point of view, just slop
and like. even if your skills never develop that much, art is still a deeply human experience. cave paintings are simple as hell but still connect us to our ancestors. even technically “bad” art is still worthwhile—especially if you enjoyed making it.
This is what they fundamentally don’t get.
They don’t understand why we dont want ‘the easy route’ (this isn’t really true bc of a derivative nature, lack of vision being realized, etc BUT) we don’t do it for it to be easy or quick. It’s actually FUN to spend time with yourself practicing a skill.
right, and even if that *were* a goal we all had, all these AI data centers coming online right now is destroying the prospect of meeting any climate goals, plus it can only generate images and text because of the millions of stolen works it's been fed. not worth it just to have an easy button.
I really wonder how some people in these positions sleep at night knowing they already have so much wealth and power but are still actively pursuing end-of-the-world damage for what? For MORE money? Why?? Are they just not fully conscious somehow?? I can’t comprehend
I mean, they’ve NEVER wanted to pay us, but sometimes the lengths they go to and the money they waste on crap in order to not pay us still manages to boggle me.
