This person is right that likely no one article is going to sway anyone. But after they see the 10th story talking about it, some portion of them are going to start to “yeah, what ABOUT that” into being a TERF pretty quickly. It’s human nature, which the existing TERFs know perfectly well.

Transphobia doesn’t always look like doing violence. More often it looks like doubt, disbelief, and denial of both personhood and medical care. And because people don’t see those AS violence, it’s a lot easier to lead them there. Say, with 87 articles in the same week that repeat the same lies.

My child’s grandparents read the NYT. So do a bunch of other parents and grandparents. So when their child or grandchild tells them they’re trans, the NYT has prepped them into “just asking questions” about their very validity and thus any help or intervention

"liberal" transphobia is dangerous because it creates a political consensus. no, it's not going to move a lot of median voters, but it creates a space for bipartisan anti-trans policies. i watched this happen in the uk.

If you’re peeking at deadlines like this, beware the difference between primaries and generals, then independent and major party candidates. Most states (except OH) require major parties to submit their nominee around 10 weeks before the general election. Because of the dates of party conventions.
