Friends. I took this picture almost 2 years ago, as my bestie & was opening his dream animal hospital. We were up there on a hot day unboxing and filling chlorhex bottles. I took this over exposed pic of him and always loved it. I didn't realise it was prophetic. He died unexpectedly Wed. night.

I am so absolutely and completely wrecked. We've been friends from day one and I put a lot of sweat equity in on the hospital and run all the socials, marketing, some tech as a side hustle (for pretty much free because $ needed to be ploughed back into the hospital) and I am worried about the future

I have been trying to get folks higher on the food chain than me to communicate to clients, to communicate to staff, to go into crisis mode beyond just being sad because we have to ensure that the hospital keeps going (we have three other vets and over 25 staff!)

The one thing I can do is keep the non profit he and I started, alittleextrafund.org going. Our clinic has become the drop off for animals found (domestic, feral and wild) hurt/lost/whatev. He'd never turn anyone away bc they couldn't pay.

I was just yesterday how much I miss miss my soaps, I watched guiding light and as the world turns all through high School, in college and beyond and I miss those people, the first parasocial relationships I had I guess. Whatever happened to the Spalding family??

I went to the farmers market, I got beets and some marigolds and a loaf of lemon pound cake. There were no black raspberries. And the kettle corn vendor was not there. Will try again tomorrow, and Sunday.

It has been such a long week already and I'd like nothing more than to stay in bed all day and wait for it to rain but there's a farmers market to go to, and I would hate for it to disappear if everyone just stayed in bed in the mornings. And so Blueberry talked me into going.
