Also, here is a Wild Turkey in the yard in Eastham, MA. Maybe that should’ve been the official bird all along. 🪶

Ok, this is making the rounds again. It gets me pretty well.
I’m a Western/Californian raised by Midwesterners who lives in Chicago so this is about right (Wished I could select more than one answer for some, like sow bugs/pill bugs/roly polies)

This just in regarding the Massachusetts 911 outage: the service is back up statewide, please only use it for reporting emergencies. No test calls.

Anyway, for @editrix-rachel.bsky.social, here’s a photo of a falling-down house along South Middlebush Rd. with plenty of wisteria draped over it. Somerset Co., NJ.

Red (the yard red squirrel) has figured out his best life. Eat birdseed on the railing, then sploot on the table under the shade of the deck umbrella. Chill in the shade, then go back out and get more birdseed.

Today (in 1999) was the day that I walked out of the Helsinki train station and saw Common Gulls (no doubt hanging around for scraps from the restaurants) for my first European lifer.

In the “Just when I thought I was out…” department… I’m hoping it will be a fun side activity/distraction, but I’m already researching roaning patterns and genetics. Because of course I am.

Damn. This reminds me of the place I used to live. I have a poor photo of the glory that happened when those trees started blooming in April.

Show me your most popular piece. Like taenia (who you should be following), I'm going the Flickr route, since who knows how popular any of my print pieces are. I have a macro of a Pyxie (Pyxidanthera barbulata) flower at Atsion Lake in the NJ Pine Barrens.
Show me your most popular piece. (The only thing I have really easily accessible stats for is Flickr, where it's this photo of Sandhill Cranes in Nebraska.)

Here's one of the caterpillars that give the moth its common name.

Because life is a never-ending cavalcade of wonders and distractions, I haven’t yet properly focused on the upcoming solar eclipse. However, this is a photo of the 2017 solar eclipse as projected through my binoculars onto my deck. There are lots of ways to see an eclipse without looking at the sun.

Just got this in the mail today. :D #amediting Looking forward to digging into it!

Ok, I missed it, probably, but this is one of my sunset shots from today. Those aren’t trolls, they’re snow-covered vegetation. Eastham, MA.
