Illustration process for this one involved cheaply thrown together 3D rocks for texture and lighting reference, and exorcising the darkroom/bathroom with a garden hoe mattock.

There is never any shame in using the library, and much benefit in doing so. They are the closest thing to an unmitigated social good that we have in these United States, which is why the hard right is gunning so fervently for them these days. A world without libraries and librarians is a poor one.

My book-buying budget is not what it once was, which is precisely why I’m using the library more. It also gives me the opportunity to read books that I’m not sure I want to add to the home library (not that there’s a lot of room to do that anyway).

Making use of the full arsenal.

Is there a good thread here that explains why starting a chat with "hi" is a TERRIBLE THING TO DO that I can just have bookmarked to send to people in a passive-aggressive kinda way whenever this happens?

This. Everyone knows who Trump is. Everyone knows who Biden is. If you really don't know who you will vote for by now, I mean. It's going to be about who shows up on the day. There are far more of us than them, we just need to be there.

It strikes me that for all the drama, polls have actually moved very little. My guess is that the results of the election in November will depend largely on get out the vote efforts.

X-Ray for Kindle is now available for Masks of the Miscam! (it's basically a way to tap on a word/character/location to read the definition, and it took a TON of work for me to set up). All of that is available on the extras on my website as well, but it's super handy on a Kindle.

A slide I showed during the recent Noss Saga music presentation, breaking down the structure of one of the twelve Mountain Song stanzas. I used the simplest common metre but added a ton of internal rhymes and alliterations where possible. I LOVE writing stuff like this, it can be such a fun puzzle.

Just finished listening to the audio books Wolf of Withervale and Masks of the Miscam after having finished reading the physical books. Nice way of enjoying the story a second time round. Now I'm eagerly awaiting book 3 even more so. @joabaldwin.com your Noss Saga is absolutely amazing ❤️
