Homemade stove top vanilla pudding for a cozy snack. 2 cups milk (or sub 1/2 cup w/heavy cream) 1/3 cup cornstarch 1/3 cup sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 egg yolk (optional) Whisk everything together, then stir over medium heat, scraping the bottom of the pot as you stir, until thickened. Chill. 🍜

You should, it’s free and so pretty! And in the big tropical room you can get up on a canopy catwalk that’s even accessible by elevator and see down into the rainforest biome!

I had one non-work goal this week, to make it to the Botanic Garden! So maybe I was a little ambitious getting on a bike for the first time in a decade, but after a wobbly start I made it through DC traffic, and it’s only raining a little 😂

Basque-style cheesecake made with goat cheese instead of cream cheese! Good flavor, lighter texture, but next time I would lean into the goat cheese flavor more by using honey instead of sugar. 🍜

This is your PSA that if your blender or travel mug has a little silicone gasket around the screw-on part and it comes into contact with anything other than water, you do need to dig that out and clean it separately. Because the dishwasher DOES NOT get up in there 😬🫣

Rice made from *veggies*…as opposed to all the meat-based rice out there…🤣 (Yes I know rice is a grain, but then technically this is made from legumes…and no good for rice allergies because the 4th ingredient is *rice*) This looks like it tastes like virtue and despair.

I’m sure this is one of those “everybody knows that” things, but in case I’m not the only one figuring it out… you can stir a tablespoon or two of milk or cream into any crumbly goat cheese and it makes it a smooth creamy spreadable version. Which sparks an idea for my next cheesecake! 🍜 #foodsky

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I ended up using a peeler to turn the parsnip into ribbons, then light sautée with garlic butter and arugula. It was SO GOOD. Buttery and nutty and perfect. 🍜 (If zucchini noodles are zoodles, would these be poodles or parnoodles?)

My tired distraction level has reached “accidentally bought parsnips instead of daikon radish” levels 😅 What do I do with parsnips? Just toss them in some herbs and butter and roast like potatoes? 🍜
