I have accepted that I, too, am vintage. I haven't really got a choice seeing as my first fountain pen was a Waterman Phileas, bought new.

the "Since 1980" painted on the marquee above my favorite pizza place does this to me

It's a very specific kind of pain I somehow thought I'd manage to avoid. Instead it's everywhere all the time and it's endlessly rude.

It's been a long time since I noticed that I was often the youngest person in the room; eventually I noticed that I was at least lowering the average age in the room; then I noticed that I wasn't the oldest in the room. Now…
