Mind numbing to think it’s been a dozen years since Clint Eastwood got on stage at the Republican National Convention and had a breakdown, talking to … a chair. How far we’ve come as a nation.

WaPo: "President Biden is finalizing plans to endorse major changes to the Supreme Court in the coming weeks, including proposals for legislation to establish term limits for the justices..." However, this graf is not needed; it's editorialization, at best. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

This is a first; never got a phone call from 111-111-1111 before.

Here's a game: publish everything Musk says because it's SEO juice, even acknowledging that Musk's "promises have often failed to come true"; then when that promise inevitably doesn't come true publish another story - more clicks, more ad impressions, more signups. (No need to cover every burp)

It takes 17 grafs to show how the first 16 (let alone frame) is all political journalistic onanism. Why is it on Biden to "cool the temperature" when 17 grafs says, well, Trump "has encouraged violence"? www.nytimes.com/2024/07/15/u...

Trump’s VP pick also once called Trump “America’s Hitler”
Trump’s VP pick … — demanded the DOJ open a criminal investigation of a journalist for “insurrection” over an op-ed critical of Trump — spouted replacement theory garbage — called for criminal prosecutions of other Trump critics — blamed Biden for Trump shooting — called for Biden’s prosecution

as an aside, why does cannon always get the glam shot photo and smith get the 'im very tired looking' photo

When laid out this way, it's hard read this as a good-faith decision by a judge. www.nytimes.com/live/2024/07...

Bloomberg has a literal “democrats are in disarray” line in a story about the Trump assassination attempt. www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

NYT defines a Trump rally - made up of people preach violence; who raided the Capitol; who tell journalists, “You’re next” - as “gleeful”. And then a story that uses his defiant image: “The moment epitomized his visceral connection with his supporters, and his mastery of the modern media age.”

Meanwhile, this piece is up at Forbes, and while not from the newsroom, it's a tangent of the convo: news orgs cede 'authority' and lose trust once they let anyone use their platform. 'Contributor networks' and 'citizen journalism' big culprits in the erosion of trust of media.

Another possible way to frame this: Pictures from the attempted assassination show Trump putting himself and his security detail in greater danger, completely ignoring safety protocol of an active shooter situation. Less 'defiant', more about feeding into Trump hagiography

Just got served this live feed on TikTok. Pretty jarring between GuitarTok and DogTok.

Started this thread 8 days ago. The NYT should really just be called "The Biden Must Go Times" at this point, not to be confused with "The Biden Must Go Journal" or "The Biden Must Go Post"
Looks like we're not outta the woods with this. You can see how the ball has moved downfield through clicking through this thread. This is a big story because the media has made it a big story. The thing is, there are more important stories to flood the zone with. This is an editorial choice.

this is such a giant misreading of 'foundation' and actually explains a lot about musk!

And we're back; after a day off to focus on the French elections, the press's bully pulpit continues to throw daggers at Biden with four stories leading the homepage today. And "project 2025" has only three stories in the last week (notice the NYT did publish the Project 2025 questionnaire in Dec)

It’s the third inning in Tampa and Rodon looks like he just stepped out of the Bay. These uniforms are terrible!

Cannot wait to hear what they play! All Things Reconsidered would be such a great bust-out.

They did what now? Did a shitty job at that, then. Also, signs of aging? WTF is that? The dude is 81; of course he's old! How has Trump's inner circle worked to keep signs of aging under wraps? Would love to know that!

"National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act" signed on July 2, 2024 (this is not mentioned in the NYT reporting)
Breaking News: A Parkinson’s expert visited the White House eight times in eight months from last summer through this spring, according to official visitor logs. The administration has said that President Biden has no signs of the disease.

There is an imbalance between what is news and what news orgs believe news to be, and this whole Biden-must-step-down cycle, now more than a week on front pages, is a prime example of that. Notice the breadth of this-from news to opinion-and lack of balance on Trump and the right wing power grab.

Bring back Dandy, the Yankees mascot from 1979-1981 (But also that big ass Marlboro cigarette ad in right center at the old Stadium)

A day later the NYT continues its wall-to-wall coverage on Biden's candidacy. Still waiting for the "Trump should bow out" coverage. On the day we celebrate our independence from a king, and 4 days from when SCOTUS sets up the possibility of a king, this is what our media is focused on.
