The fumes, plus shitty gas mileage when you are doing stop and go driving. Hochul is awful (I hate primaries against Democrats, but Hochul needs to go). Plus $15 so you could be doing something more productive than sitting in traffic is a bargain (traffic is bad for productivity).

4.6 mph is literally walking speed.

Isn’t it right that before Livingstone introduced congestion charging in London (2004?) the average speed of a car within the congestion area was the same as in 1904? About 4 miles/hour?

When working there 2000-2002 I found any trip within the congestion area on average easier to walk than get a cab or tube. Cabs and tubes were on average quicker, but often slower, whereas you knew exactly how long it would take to walk so didn’t have to allow extra time.

I think of the governor every time my GPS sarcastically inquires whether I’d like to switch to pedestrian mode or not.
