Diastrous for the DUP - losing Paisley is iconic, and Sammy Wilson’s majority was decimated by both UUP and alliance (not great election either). East Londonderry would have been lost but for a split nationalist vote. Once gone, those seats don’t come back. (Demographs) Unionism must change.

Through my childhood, on election nights, my dad was the man under Peter Snow’s desk putting interesting facts on notecards into his socks. That’s how it was done before Google, kids. You got a very clever ASD man with some Oxford degrees to just remember interesting constituency histories.

Anyone familiar with what to do - my brother is a butcher who has a Facebook page that has been hacked and is now spewing out videos of westerns etc. - he has lost his key online sales platform. Facebook have been no help. When I report it, nothing happens. Anyone know how to remedy this?

@chadbourn.bsky.social - recent hints that East Antrim (Sammy Wilson) is moving into too-close-to-call - strong TUV vote, locally popular UUP candidate and Sammy splitting the unionist vote. Alliance have a long term candidate, well thought of, who could sneak it. Our 3 postal votes might count!

It’s a hard life but someone had to do it - it also means I require blow by blow accounts of all tories losing their seats. #TakingOneForTheTeam

The UK media is giving a tiny party like Reform unprecedented coverage - way more than the larger Lib Dems and Greens get. Lots of reporters at the NEC today. This is exactly what happened with Trump in 2016.

One of the interesting things about the Internet is that we’re actually living through a dark age. Future historians are unlikely to have records of this period. Paper and ink last. Digital storage, less so. variety.com/2024/tv/news...

The hapless Tories just can’t cut a break. Their big ad today is a roulette wheel and a voiceover about Labour gambling… As the Gambling Commission investigates two of their candidates and CCHQ is being very shady about how many more might come to light.

Starmergeddon - Johnston just handed Labour the gift of something that actually sounds exciting about Starmer. Possibly game over.

Sunak is talking about what the last Labour government did…14 years ago…because he can’t go on the Tories’ record. He’ll be banging on about the Corn Laws next.

If this was a boxing match the referee would stop the fight. Sunak is incapable of defending himself and needs to be protected from unnecessary punishment. Is it time someone respected stepped in as referee. Should it be: A. The King B. Mary Berry C. David Attenborough D. Hacker T Dog

Daily Mail’s Dan Hodges says Sunak’s statement that the civil service had independently costed Labour's tax plans at £2,000 “was the most blatant lie I've seen in an election campaign. “This is going to have serious implications for the rest of the campaign. The lie was too blatant.”

As a cis het mother of two, 39 years monogamous, the extension in recent decades of rights and respect to people who are not like me, to live and love as they choose, has not affected me in any way whatsoever. The consequences of bigots trying to limit which women can go where certainly will.

Confirmation: NI Minister Steve Baker says Sunak’s National Service wheeze was developed by a political adviser and sprung on candidates with no consultation or even talking to relevant ministers.
