RIP Donald Sutherland, who gave us so many great performances, including a WWII tank commander/beatnik.

It is. Inspired we boys built our own Sherman out of card board scraps.

My kid brother and I quote that movie on a regular basis.

Less than the sum of its parts, but there are some great parts, especially Sutherland's.

Of all the roles to pick for this you picked my favorite.

The character makes absolutely no sense on paper but he makes it work brilliantly on the screen.

He MADE that movie. He elevated it to art.

"Always with the negative waves, Moriarty" -- my dad still quotes this line all the time

God I love that movie. Extra points for the Burning Bridges pop-lite song performed by a guy who later became a GOP California politician.

Btw the scene composition in that shot is simply perfect

🙏❤️ one of my all time favorites

Nobody could give you such a "I am certifiably insane"* look as Mr. Sutherland could. His eyes were practically made to do movies with. *With the optional side of "and I love it" when needed.

No one like him. If he was cast in something, it was well worth seeing. I fell for him the first time I saw Body Snatchers. RIP.

Hands down, my favorite movie. A great loss.
Negative waves, man!
Not to mention survivor of Armageddon.

This just gave me some negative waves.

One of his best rolls as oddball

Where are you getting this?

He was great in everything, but Oddball was definitely my favorite role. He was brilliant.

A national treasure💔 Oh boy, this one hurts.

I love how absurd / anachronistic this performance was. RIP

"The Disappearance" still haunts me

Saw this in the theater at initial release and his Oddball character broke the WWII hero mold.

"tree tigers" lives in my head rent free (note: it's actually 3 tigers but his pronunciation is the best part)
