I was on a tv show about technology for 7 years. We got to meet a lot of the big tech people, many before they became household names. So I’ve known (you know who) sucked for ten years before it became public knowledge.
That show was the only art made of an entire decade of Silicon Valley dominating the culture and economy, that truly reflected it.
And the art it inspired, like Devs, the Circle, was all dystopian.
I've been hating on him for like 10 years since the Hyperloop ish started coming out. I'm so glad other people are finally starting to see what a joke he is.
What he was claiming was just not feasible or safe. It's hilarious how it just became a single fucking car in a tube on a track. Like, just built a goddamn train.
I literally just started watching it yesterday (it rules btw) and that guy is mentioned in the very first episode in the same breath as various tech figureheads. Things that definitely wouldn't happen today...
The real-life inspiration for Carla Walton is an actual person (credited "C.K. Henry", they were an tech advisor for the show) and is a genuinely cool person (known for exploding watermelons in multiple ways)
one thing I’ve always wondered about during your time on SV:
did you snag any set items or props before it ended? I love hearing about the little things actors have kept throughout the years.
Tech moguls are rock stars, startups are indie bands, and 2019 Elon Musk is Smashmouth when Shrek came out. Good or bad, these dice are all cast. Tesla is an all star, the SpaceX show is on, and Shrek already paid.
