Wow, I just found out "Home" was accepted into Infected By Art Volume 12! This painting is very personal and special to me, so it always makes me happy when people resonate with this weird, sad girl with the armadillo before the thunderstorm on a scorched earth.

(1/2) Just a little over 13 hours remain for voting in the Chesley Awards. If a piece of speculative art has touched you in the last year, it's worth voting just to gaze upon the gorgeous ballot of works! cc: @asfa-art.bsky.social (link to vote in the next one)
"The Ecstasy of St. Joan" is nominated for a Chesley Award. This piece is about queer liberation. It sprung from my readings of the actual historical transcripts of the trial of Joan of Arc, imagining a beautiful possible world of freedom and joy for Jeanne. @asfa-art.bsky.social

Hi #PortfolioDay! I'm Dianita, a traditional artist from Mexico working from TX. After creating 79 paintings for a Tarot deck, I'd love to find more opportunities illustrating for publishing, hopefully fantasy related. I love creating art that acknowledges hidden experiences, dreams and hopes.

Today I finally had office hours so I could officially back @havenspec.bsky.social on Kickstarter - $24 gets you all 6 issues next year & helps them pay pro rates to authors! I'm on deck to do a cover for them next year. They could use a boost!
Our Kickstarter is at 60% with less than 4 days to go, so we wanted to show you how we calculated our goal of $10,400. 73% of it goes to our lovely authors and artists, 4% is for swag and admin, and 23% is for tax. Help us pay folks what they deserve! www.kickstarter.com/projects/hav...

Have you read the work in the @strangehorizons.bsky.social Caribbean Special Issue? Our purpose in putting out this issue was to highlight the mind-blowing writing being produced by Caribbean writers. My job as an editor I feel is to center the writers NOT MYSELF. They are incredible.

Anything is possible but I'm not interested in whether they can or not. I'm happy with my process even though a lot of the time it's agony - I need the struggle, the tears and the upset even the moments of writers block. I need it because that's how I make better art...pushing myself.

No. 1. The environmental cost is not worth the gains. 2. The effort of making a thing, the repetition, the creative culs-de-sac, all serve to improve me, and I do definitely want to be better. It's a false economy to get AI to do all that for me. Your brain and your soul need the reps.

Good news about A NECESSARY CHAOS everyone! You all have supported the book so much that we're now in our second printing 😍

The opening of Strange Agonies at Rojo Gallery was very meaningful. I wish I had gotten more pictures but I was mostly being in the moment. Connecting with people about art's ability to hold life's contradictions is why I wake up in the morning
