I’m terribly amused by the troll trying to shame me for using 1 7/8 tow ball for my boat … as if it’s more manly to use the wrong equipment.

I guess he thinks that I should have a bigger boat. Because bigger boats equal more manliness. But I feel like a 1973 aluminum boat I restored is … even by the standards of bullshit trad masculinity … is pretty good. :) it’s my most trad coded trait.
You mean, you don’t think you’re gonna need a bigger boat?

Mine is that I refuse to ask for directions. I'm told it's endearing.* *not really

The age and size of your boat is clearly not impacting your ability to catch fish.

Awww snookums, this is my "other boat." Don't worry about the trailer and boat this hitch actually fits. Regardless. Just to shut up an idiot.

What does he want you to do, tie it to some truck nutz?

And then there's the guy's with the giant ball hitch and the foot long hitch extension sticking out of the back of the truck, so you take yourself out below the knees when you walk behind them in a parking lot.

We all know real men only use 2" balls? Or something.

For what I see you catching, a bigger boat would be absolutely counterproductive. People who think fishing is better when it’s bigger are fools

Right? Totally wrong for what I do.

Also now I want to know more about the boat. I grew up in little aluminum fishing boats and love them to bits

I have three. A 1961 at home, a 1973 in the drive at the cabin, and a 1986 little rowboat at the dock. :)

Lund ? Alumnacraft ? Crestliner ? I personally would love to have an old wooden resort rowing/fishing boat, suitable for a 10hp motor, to try to restore during a couple winters, and I know where there's a shed full of them. Time and initiative, though ...

the 61 is a Mitchell, the others are alumnacraft (14 ft for 73 and 12 for 86)

We had a couple of these in my grandfather’s day. They are gorgeous and dreamy at speed, but pretty heavy. My dad kept patching the last one as it rotted out from under him—loving restoration is not his primary game

Of all your perceived unmasculine flaws he had to go for the 1 7/8 ball hitch. I mean you study the dark ages instead of WWII.
