A friend pointed out a good problem they have with drawing pants on walking movement and I love drawing folds so I tried to do a little show and tell on pant folds. I love how @kodyisover.bsky.social visualized the problem! It’s such a common issue I sometimes still struggle with too!

I would also add onto this: read books outside of the genre you prefer to write in. It will surprise you how much you can learn/absorb from vastly different narrative styles and conventions.

Sometimes the best advice I can give to other aspiring comic authors is... not to read comics. Read literally everything. A varied diet will keep your work feeling rich and refreshing. Sometimes you read a story & the writing feels so stagnant because it draws from nothing but its own genre.

The lesson from French politics, that no one paid attention to, is that when leftists stop bickering and work together, they can actually accomplish things very effectively.

I think about this a lot re the right vs. left: Broadly speaking, the left values tolerance, diversity, and context—so the right has an inherent advantage in “consistent messaging,” black-and-white framing of situations, fast judgements, and, sadly, the consolidation of power.
