Is this a joke? Why not shorten it to 2 hours? 10 minutes?

Dear California: if you aim the thermometer at a cup of tea, or swish it in one, you will have a fever. Do yourself a favor: make sure you have a fever. This advice will make you sicker, and make people around you sick.
If you say “COVID” ten times, the virus is wished into the cornfield.

They keep claiming there's some kind of general immunity despite the facts that people who've had it can get it again, vaccine immunity wanes over about six months, and the current vaccine doesn't prevent transmission, making it a kind of half-assed vaccine. There is no herd immunity on this one.
Avatar
Yup. My government keeps repeating that "we've built up immunity through infection" when the research shows infection lowers immunity, smh www.nih.gov/news-events/...
Avatar
So bizarre. I dodged the bullet for four years, but got it a couple weeks ago. It took me almost 7 days to test negative again and even then I stayed away from friends just in case.
Avatar
The "give everybody Covid at once and get it over with" gang didn't know whether or how long survival immunity would protect against re-infection yet. And they stole "herd immunity" from us by spreading outbreaks quickly, though fewer people die from infections these days.
Avatar
Well at the beginning I can accept that, we hoped it was measles-ey and not flue-y. But by a year later we knew better, yet around here we *still* had covid parties.

Decided to focus on those who are most at risk.
Avatar
this just puts more people at risk
Avatar
Yes. They did decline to specify precisely what and how they're focusing on those most at risk.
Avatar
People will die because of this. Monstrous.

Which day? Scratchy throat day one, two, or five? The day before symptoms start? When the test comes back positive after 7 negative tests? How do we choose the one day to isolate? Such a ghoulish decision.
Avatar
One day after your fever breaks and if symptoms are improving, is what it actually says. Not saying that's right. The issue with COVID is rebound...with other viruses, this is one thing, but people can think they're better and then go down again, so resting a few extra days... People forget that
Avatar
Ok, I guess I should have read the thing. Thanks! I didn’t get a fever when I had covid. So, like lol to these ridiculous rules.
Avatar
You got lucky. The problem is, all of this requires common sense, which isn't. Given what we're now learning about the effect of *any* viral infection on the immune system, you should mask for a few days after being sick anyway, give your immune system some rest.

Human sacrifice is necessary to please the economy

There was literally a Librarians episode about this lol.

Is their surgeon general the same guy from Florida?

Complete dereliction of duty

This line “people most at risk” is such othering BS. I got news for ya’, there is no “most”—there are only two groups of people in life, those already at risk, and those who soon will be.
Avatar
Why even bother at that point??? This is so very stupid.

I’m so ashamed that in 2020 I thought the democrats would actually try to end the pandemic
Avatar
Very hard to squeeze two consecutive days of negative tests into one day 🤔

Avatar
Avatar
This complete useless. That's the same as not having any isolation.
Avatar
That is so sad. One day is nothing.

California health officials are treating COVID like the flu... except the flu doesn't leave one with neurological, cardiovascular deficits.
Avatar
Knowing that long covid is a 10 percent chance per infection
Way to keep lots of people sick at the same time 🤦🏼‍♀️
Avatar
Avatar
Fairly deceptive headline, but still--hey, what could go wrong with that? 😐 The Boston surge is just about back to normal levels. One more week and it's done. I'm masking in stores for a couple more weeks minimum. Still don't want flu. 😷
Avatar
Avatar
You still have a mandatory isolation? Impressive!
Avatar
Avatar
I don't think that's true actually
Avatar
Wastewater and actual infections are what's counted. Even in "mild" cases, it's causing all sorts of long-term health issues, including deaths due to cardiovascular issues.
Avatar
Agh, can't read the article in my location, but definitely a shocking headline.
Avatar
The advice: “As of Jan. 9, people who test positive for COVID-19 but have mild symptoms and have been fever-free without the help of medication may return to school or work after one day of isolation.” And…
Avatar
“Health officials still recommend that people who test positive for COVID-19 wear a mask, avoid contact with those who have a higher risk of catching severe COVID-19 and, if needed, seek medical treatment, according to the updated guidelines. COVID-19 vaccinations are also still recommended...”

I look forward to the cascade of states following suite due to corporate pressure and covid coming back stronger than ever.
