Have you ever been in a hurry to do something but you have to “select all the images with fire hydrants” first? That’s the future of AI. You’re dying on an intersection somewhere but need to train an AI with bicycle pics to get to a human on your phone

You cannot debate someone who can lie with a straight face, and who probably believes his own lies. Biden is getting overwhelmed by the sheer audacity of the false statements. This, for Trump, is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Biden keeps looking surprised when trump makes stuff up. Sort of stunned by it. This will be used against him

Rebranding their own integration of OpenAI products as “Apple intelligence” is a genius marketing move. And it is absolutely a marketing move.

“AI is the sedimentation of the status quo” is such a great way of putting it.
Generative AI should be called Normative AI, as all it's doing is an endless rearrangement of elements according to the statistical norms it has learned from its training data. AI is the sedimentation of the status quo.

Elon Musk's battle over the Sydney church stabbing video is not about freedom of speech. It’s to titillate his followers | Belinda Barnetwww.theguardian.com The X owner was always going to turn the video removal request into a glib culture war fought with 4chan-style memes and late-night missives Get our morning and afternoon news emails, free app or daily news podcast This battle was never about the removal of a single violent video for Elon Musk – it was always going to turn into a glib culture war fought with 4chan-style memes and late-night missives featuring Musk as the free speech antihero fighting Woke Governments of the World. At least, that is how he wishes to portray it to his more than 180 million followers. Musk on Tuesday responded to an interim court order from Australia’s eSafety Commission requesting that X hide graphic and distressing videos of the recent Sydney stabbing within 24 hours with a Wizard of Oz meme: it’s all shits and giggles over at X. In further posts, he took aim at the eSafety commissioner, claiming she wants “authority over all countries on Earth”, after labelling her a “Commissar” for requesting the removal of the video in the first place, which depicted an attack that the NSW police have since classified as a terrorist incident. Okay well turns out nothing cures imposter syndrome like going through immigration The guy was like "A literary festival? Why were you invited?" and I almost said "I genuinely don't know" before recovering my composure and declaring "I'm an AUTHOR."

We should learn from the aftermath of the Westfield attack, where a false name for the attacker was trending for 24 hours: don’t rely on internet detectives during a news event. Particularly on X, where moderation is now thin (and “verification” now unreliable)
