Oh bullshit. It starts in the 50s. The fires were burning much more fiercely in prior decades.

That's not the intended point of the song. It was written in response to a young person who thought "nothing happened in the fifties" and every generation before them had had easy times. Really, the title should be "You Youngins Didn't Start the Fire", but that doesn't scan as well.

Anyone covering "We Didn't Start The Fire" instead of Bo Burnham's "That Funny Feeling" is two full generations of 'list of angst-ridden things' behind the times
