"In one incident described in the court papers, Cassie says that in early 2012, Diddy grew so angry about her dating Kid Cudi that he said he would blow up the rapper’s car. “Around that time,” the suit says, “Kid Cudi’s car exploded in his driveway.”
fortunately no, 1997 was when i moved to a punk house and started doing drugs full time, i have almost no memory of any pop culture for the following three years
you could do an entire shitty remake we didn’t start the fire of terrible pop culture things that happened from like 94 - 2002 if that other band hadn’t already done such a shitty job of it
Excuse me I know this is off-topic but I need to complain about "We Didn't Start The Fire." The song is an anthem for Boomers, disclaiming any responsibility for the state of the world then or going forward. Anyone from a later generation covering it is just doing a self-own.
“The invention and cultivation of fire led to widespread growth in civilization and society. This has made a lot of people very angry and generally been regarded as a bad idea” (DA/HHGTG)
Drifting still further off-topic (I apologize), but can we talk about the grievously misplaced Boomer optimism of Genesis's "Land of Confusion"?: 🎶"My generation will put it right/We're not just making promises/We know we'll never keep..." HEY, HOW'D THAT WORK OUT, PHIL COLLINS?
And next comes "It's the End of World... (and I Feel Fine)," an anthem for Gen-Xers denying any repercussions.
Generations come and go. Rock still sucks.
OK but the line “birthday party cheesecake jelly bean boom” refers to Stipe’s friend Vanessa, singer for Pylon, & balloons popping at her party which just goes to show something
Again, ? That makes it worse. What did they have to apologize for when the oldest were 7? Joel was inspired by that too write "We didn't start the fire." Both are Boomer anthems.
That's not the intended point of the song. It was written in response to a young person who thought "nothing happened in the fifties" and every generation before them had had easy times.
Really, the title should be "You Youngins Didn't Start the Fire", but that doesn't scan as well.
Anyone covering "We Didn't Start The Fire" instead of Bo Burnham's "That Funny Feeling" is two full generations of 'list of angst-ridden things' behind the times
