Good reminder for me to order the Agents of Deterioration t-shirt from Gaylord Archival ...
'Cellulose nitrate was used to make dice from the late 1860s until the mid twentieth century, and remains stable for decades. Nitric acid is released in a process called outgassing. The dice cleave, crumble, and then implode.' Deception, Fate & Rotten Luck by Ricky Jay and Rosamond Purcell

Everything feels SO idyllic right now, but I know it's the calm before the Twelfth Night Costumes Alterations Storm. Still, I can enjoy sitting in the shade on the back porch and revising my novel until that point.

Leave it to Aunt Jane to describe social media so perfectly
For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors and laugh at them in our turn?

You don’t have to thank me for doing my stupid job. But it is nice.

I feel like I should go on a week-long carpentry course just so I can reliably identify all of the woodworking tools in the collection. OTOH I think I've managed to make the difference between ovalo and ogee molding stick in my head now.

Why on earth does NYSEG send me a text for my meter reading several days before it will *accept* my meter reading? It's so ridiculous.

And I also want to encourage people to allow each other generous readings of what they say rather than assume the worst framing, I know we’re all exhausted and punchy right now but

This is complicated, because on the one hand I think it’s absolutely true that social media platforms are places where real community that creates real positive effects can be and often is created And there’s also a kind of person who really thinks Posting (note the proper noun) is Activism
It’s funny cause people tell me *all the time* how they’ve learned from me and found community through my posts and been uplifted and connected to others and gotten tools to recognize and fight hate and felt less alone in the world. But I guess fuck that right? I’m not accomplishing anything.

There's a thread on the bad place rn that I don't really want to get involved with, but I have thoughts on. Their point is that period costuming doesn't need to be historically accurate and inaccurate costuming shouldn't be assumed to mean the designer lacks knowledge. (This will be so disorganized)

Worn #onthisday in 1870 by Mary Mullins for her austral winter #wedding to Timothy Gallagher in Hokitika, New Zealand. She'd refused to marry the MP until his term ended. The blue hue and detachable train of the princess-line taffeta gown made it easy to wear again. #OTD 📷 Te Papa

One reason I'm anti-anti-labelling is that... you're going to get a label anyway even if it's not a diagnosis. It's just that the label will be "stupid" or "freak" or "lazy" or "broken" instead of, in my case, autism and ADHD. I'm not broken. I'm not bad at being human. I'm different.
