I'm a pacifist. I hate war. But I know it exists, and there is a human price to pay for it. She's right. Never forget those who gave their lives, whether they volunteered or not.

I love that folks enjoy Memorial Day Weekend as a respite from the stress of work and whatnot, but if I may: take a moment this weekend to honor those who have died in uniform. Their ultimate sacrifice should always be remembered. Give thanks for their selfless service.

Indeed. Worth noting that leveraged buyouts aren't some sort of natural process of efficient capitalism, they exist because our lobbyist-written tax code encourages them. Tax the debt as income to the purchasers (because it is), or disallow deductions for interest payments, and poof LBOs disappear.

I’m not trying to disparage anyone but it’s important everyone understands that as our population grows into their golden years so too will many of our doctors. Also, the older doctors helped shape our current healthcare system which isn’t working well for anyone. This needs to change.

31% of practicing U.S. physicians are aged 60 or older. Last week, after introduction myself to a 75-year-old patient in my ER she immediately remarked, "Oh good, you're young. You might know something these older doctors never learned." She was right; I diagnosed her with polymyalgia rheumatica.
