Can’t wait! I got to visit the Laika exhibit at the MoPop in Seattle last weekend & completely geeked out. 🖤🖤🖤 the exhibit has cool stuff from their other movies as well. Highly recommend 4 anyone who can get to Seattle.

Fun fact- this was the first film shown in a digital 3D screen in Norwich (I know because I won a competition to go to the screening!) Such a great film.

Ah, I miss that place! I was there a year ago for a residency.

Oh cool. Yeah, even with my local bias aside I do love Norwich.

It's just a lovely place and really helped me get started on my novel. I wrote a piece for the National Centre for Writing about the city, as viewed through the lens of a visiting horror creator, if you're interested! nationalcentreforwriting.org.uk/writing-hub/...

Instead of 3d glasses, they just sow lenses in place of your eyes.

This is going to be such fun—I didn’t see it on first release but I *did* see it on a big screen. When I was still a professor in MN, I screened it for my class at a small rented theater. Class title: Gothic science. We also watched Corpse Bride that way.

One of my students said the Coraline movie would haunt him forever and I was like “hee hee read the book” because I wanted to make sure.

I didn’t know you were a professor here. I hope you have fond memories of the state.

When 3D was first a thing I saw this in 3D in theaters and was like “oh, so THAT’S how you use 3D for something other than cheap jumpscares.”

It was one of a handful of films along with Scorsese's Hugo and Joe Dante's The Hole that really understood the point of 3D.

...is "suchlike" doing some heavy lifting because there is the most terrifying pop-corn bucket yet to be made by human hands is part of it?

If they made an OM popcorn bucket it would break the internet

We have a fire escape outside our apt. that I’ve started using as a mini terrace. My daughter is terrified it’s going to separate from the building bc she grew up watching “Coraline.’ I told a friend of hers she’s afraid of the fire escape & the friend said “Because of ‘Coraline’?” She is, too!

I'm one of those people that gets a headache from most/all 3D movies. I watched it when it was first in theaters and my eyes going cross-eyed were very distracting. 😕 I loved the story, of course!
Avatar
Oh now this is good news!! If only seeing movies didn't cost so much :')

I’ve only ever read it, I’ve never seen it. I’ve also just been given a cinema ticket by my step daughter and I’ve not been to the cinema (it’s sad to say) for about a year, so I’ll go and see how it compares.

Saw it in 3D first time around. It was great!

Any chance to watch it on the big screen in Italy as well?

Am organizing a bunch of friends to go!
It’s been a long time since we saw anything from Laika.
