Writing thank you notes to the entire police force has the distinction of being quite a bizarre notion and something Eric Adams’s constituents actually do. nypost.com/2021/09/27/n...
NYC mayor Eric Adams, defending NYPD's response to pro-Palestinian protests in Bay Ridge, Brookyn, asks why nobody sends the NYPD thank-you notes for all the good they do www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU8g...

This is a pet peeve, I guess, but the Adams team’s incuriosity about the world bugs me. There’s a real thank-the-cops-for-being-just-wonderful subculture out there, which fuels Republican politics and fits with Adams’ poorly articulated right-wing outook, and his staff could educate him about it.

It's a weird flex to point out how the people who "thank you" live a thousand miles away. Almost as far as the NYPD cops live from the city.

a reasonable note to write if all you know about NYC is what you see on television

the existence of people who *don't* send the cops handwritten thank you notes is unacceptable

Adams is not the kind of guy that wants or accepts being educated His staff either confirms his biases or can find another job

Part of that culture is that you never acknowledge whenever society treats cops well (often!)

"We got a thank you note from someone who has never interacted with us and never will." Truly a brag-worthy moment.

Imagine having nothing better to do with your life than write thank you notes to cops you've never met, from a state nowhere near yours.
