Since I'm sure it's been done, can anyone point me to the accurate discussion of whether, and how, Judge Cannon could be removed from the documents case?

Strongly recommend Lawfare's coverage—including the weekly "Trump's Trials and Tribulations" podcast—for treatment of this question, especially from Roger Parloff, but I'm not immediately finding a single thorough treatment of the issue

I know they’ve answered various questions about it - in part because as a material supporter I’ve asked them about that.

I’m pretty sure Lawfare has done the particulars in some of their coverage.

Seconding lawfare recommendation.

@qjurecic.bsky.social Has Roger written one of these, or is it too much of a moving target?

Short answer, a motion to recuse would be highly unlikely to prevail. If (HUGE IF) Judge Cannon makes an awful ruling from which Special Counsel takes a successful interlocutory appeal, it is possible that the 11th Circuit would reverse and remand to a different judge. Don’t hold your breath.

Unless Cannon suddenly ends up in jail or the hospital, it's extremely unlikely that she can be removed before the election. If Trump wins, he'll kill the prosecution. If he loses, maybe then the case that had simple slam-dunk evidence and law on its side gets a chance to get heard fairly.

She and every judge in florida could die of heart attacks, that'd probably do it.

@muellershewrote.bsky.social (alas only active as @MuellerSheWrote on the other place) discussed this, and IIRC they (she and Andy McCabe) have talked about this on the "Jack" podcast (also highly recommended.)

Andrew Weissmann has a podcast and a book out. He has talked about that quite a bit.

Apparently she has been avoiding rulings on many issues because Jack could use them as a basis for getting her removed.
