That was the thought I had this morning, we keep thinking we’re gonna win a gold star (debate, muller, perfect vp pick, etc) and it will protect us. We don’t get extra electoral college votes for debate wins

That was something 2016 laid bare - none of the traditional politics stuff matters any more. HRC won every debate, got every endorsement - from papers that hadn’t endorsed a Dem in 100 years and from every living president - out-fundraiser, did everything right. Didn’t matter.

Right, that’s the entire point of the post you’re replying to. Debates are a good way to introduce a candidate; they don’t change anyone’s mind about a known quantity.
