The Right wants abortion bans so they can ensure they have something to bitch about in the future when the family they created needs support or when the unwanted child turns to crime.

For everything else, the government should stay our of our personal lives.

“Turns to crime” is a feature, not a bug. Prison labor is very profitable.

Red States never squared the circle of wanting to outlaw abortion while hating welfare and poor people. And these people aren't going to move to become some other state's problem. They are held there by poverty and family ties. Increased poverty, orphans or abused kids, overwhelmed foster care....

Tennessee's child welfare system is already notoriously awful. This will be a disaster, but the clowns in the state legislature will find some way to blame "wokeness" and shrug off any responsibility, as usual

It's so sad. The human cost will be immense.

But think how much the state will get from the hated federal government for her kids all being in foster care! The economy depends on it

That's so heartbreaking and terrible.

The ruthlessness of this story is just awful. Forcing a woman to continue with a pregnancy that could have killed her and caused permanent bodily damage is just the start of a horrific story of policymakers who cared little for this woman or her child.

Simply heartbreaking that a state can be so cruel.
