It seems like a lot of liberal justices thought they could play nice and have influence of the Republican court. They got totally shanked instead.

I kind of think it was their best move at the time to try to influence the justices who might listen, especially given the dynamics of a 6-3 minority. ACB clearly wasn't all in on full immunity, but she still essentially signed off on it.

I'm still not precluding that this was Sotomayor's attempt to court Barrett to join the liberals. She has been faced with an impossible situation dictated by simple math (since the Democrats have been unwilling to expand the Court). But I'm a Sotomayor stan.

So many people think they are so much more clever/knowledgeable/persuasive/etc than they actually are.

Civility is the sin qua non for the elite.
