the fact that the press is mad at biden for being old while hailing presidents lincoln and roosevelt who literally became dead in office (the oldest you can be) demonstrates their absurd double-standard. in this five-part essay i will,

“John Roberts is sad that my fantasy of John Roberts is nonsense” is a helluva take
“It is not far-fetched to imagine that Roberts was mourning the decisive end of his vision of presiding over an institution seen as operating above the partisan fray.” Actually, in light of his recent votes and opinions, it is entirely far-fetched to believe that.

Is our Ivy League professors learning
It’s a very Ivy League law prof thought to imagine a world where the president jails one of his political opponents, but also allows a completely impartial and independent judiciary to exist and even undermine him.

Consider the source, yes
When reading the piece below, about how bad the SupCt has been ( theatlantic.com/politics/arc... ) , can't help thinking of same author's ringing endorsement of Brett Kavanaugh. "A superb nominee," etc. (This is prof Akhil Reed Amar of Yale Law. ) www.nytimes.com/2018/07/09/o...

Oh, that Hamilton fella, what did he know
"The President of the United States would be liable to be impeached, tried, and, upon conviction of treason, bribery, or other high crimes or misdemeanors, removed from office; and would afterwards be liable to prosecution and punishment in the ordinary course of law." - Hamilton

As long as you’re at it: the postcard stamps are good only for postcards between 3.5 x 5 in and 4.25 x 6 in; a lot of postcards you see are bigger than that and will need a regular first class stamp.
For anyone doing this: USPS prices are going up on July 14th. Postcard stamps are going up from 53¢ to 56¢, & regular stamps are going up by 5¢. I think you can order them at the old prices from USPS until the 13th. USPS sells one variety of 'forever' postcard stamp: store.usps.com/store/produc...

(I know it's in vogue to hate on John Kennedy, and he was personally unpleasant, but credit where due: he was the sort of politician who would go to Mississippi to give a speech in which he expressed support for school desegregation.)

Why was the 1960 election close? It's sure helps to consider the possibility that "it's racism"

weird that a guy who said incredibly racist stuff would run a racist campaign unless you consider the possibility that “it’s racism”

like, “why did Reagan go to a spot near where three civil rights workers were murdered a mere sixteen years previous to campaign on ‘states’ rights’” is not a huge mystery when you consider the possibility that “it’s racism”

Everyone is always afraid to say why people like Trump or Marie Le Pen have some level of popularity and it’s just that there’s a lot of people in the world who believe in racism. You end up with these goofy ass explanations for Trump where it’s NAFTA or shit and it’s like no you know what it is

Paper: it’s high resolution, readable in various light levels, full color, requires no electricity to activate, and cheaper to preserve. That’s some high-tech stuff!
:dons librarian hat: Digital preservation is more expensive than preserving paper; it takes more staff, active attention, and consistent computing resources. Libraries have discussed “digital dark age” since the 1990s. Corp archives often 1st to go b/c suits haven’t figured out how to profit.
