Important to realize as we try to retain civility on Bluesky that all the stuff we say to each other will have literally zero impact on whether Biden bows out or not, we’re just hanging around yapping about politics like a bunch of old Greek guys at a sidewalk cafe, no need to take it personally
I think it's fine if we freak out, have differing views, what actually freaks me out is that the professionals who should do better are flailing publicly. Leaking to the press. Whatever the right path is, what they are doing is not it.
yeah for me it's mostly seeing cis people who have lots of influence talking about this stuff like it's a poli sci hypothetical and not the rest of my life hanging in the balance; on bluesky it can be annoying but not infuriating
At least with Biden we already know who would be taking over for him should he become incapable of serving in the office during his second term.
Trump still hasn't declared who will be his running mate, and possibly the interim president when he finally fully succumbs to his nervous breakdown.
I am on the side of "there is no best path". There are many good paths and many very bad paths. We should advocate for the ones we think are good and warn (with explicit reasoning that doesn't rely on vibes) about the bad ones.
But anyone except Trump winning the "best path" game means we all won.
