"My mentions" feels like a weirdly over-identified thing to me when you're posting in public. Maybe because I come to social media from a forum culture baseline?
I guess Bidens age doesn't matter that much to me cause I don't think US Presidents do nearly as much as the myth likes to tell. Reagan spent the back end of his run with Alzheimers, last guy played golf & shitposted for 4 years, idc if Bidens an ent who speaks once a yr, taking it over Project 2025
This is the core argument of the Republican party on all business - if a profit can be made by some private party, it *must be* made. The public good is subservient to private profit, and private harms to public resources are just the cost of freedom.
Yesterday I published a short essay on how toxic the pervasive believe that you can "offset" or "trade-off" harms from something with a benefit somewhere else, comparing "AI" and asbestos

as the surviving confederates cut and ran, union officers picked up confederate battle flags that had fallen in combat and rode circles around the rebels, dragging the flags in the mud and blood behind their horses
today is the 161st anniversary of pickett’s charge, when 12,000 confederates marched across 3/4 of a mile of open land, directly into constant rifle and artillery fire. half the confederates were killed, wounded, or captured in the slaughter, a turning point in the battle of gettysburg and the war

RFK: Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.
RFK Jr.:
They can't even get right one of the rare AI* use cases that's a pretty solid.
(It's because they have detection dialed up to 11 with no human review. It's the only way you get the range of false positives I've been seeing.)
Hopefully, the relevant audience will get the notice another way.
"The University of Farmington was even listed on the website of ICE as a school approved by the U.S. government for students. It seemed real to its 600-plus students, a majority of them immigrants from India interested in studying technology and science."
the fact that the left and centre in France have both said that the third place candidates will drop out is getting basically no play in a US press going full apeshit over Round 1 results and yes it is so that you think fascism is inevitable globally so why not here
THE sentence of the day: A Macronist incumbent in the Marseille region came in 3rd in her seat. She just dropped out to support the left. She said, about why she's maneuvering to block the far-right:
"Defeats happen, but you can never recover from dishonor."
So, say Biden drops out of the race. What next from the media?
- "If you can't campaign, you can't fulfill job duties now - resign!"
- "OK, Kamala (because women are first namers, not last namers like men), why are you campaigning? You need to learn the job!"

I was gonna work a quick reply, then had a little rant.
Anyway, ChatGPT can’t replace your data management team, and you’re gonna have to EXPAND IT to get a GPT usable data.
How about just investing in the DM and skipping the AI until you have a REAL use case.
I have yet to encounter a corporate enterprise that truly has its data in order, and they also do not find data management at a sufficient level to improve that.
DM is hard work — just determining where data originated is often impossible. Just throw AI in the mix, though, it’ll solve everything.
I want to dig into this, since my book VERY FINE PEOPLE comes out today, and it's in large part about precisely this sort of polemic trickery in service of bullshit apologia of supremacy.
There's a sleight of hand at the start that catapults us into a massive lie.

GPT-4: Use a quarter cup of industrial epoxy in the sauce

“So much of humor relies on being surprising and incongruous, which is at odds with how these models work, says Tuhin Chakrabarty… Creative writing requires deviation from the norm, whereas LLMs can only mimic it.”

Would not be surprised to learn it's being used to determine things like lay offs.

Today’s must-read
Something very obvious 20 years ago when I worked in this (roughly) space — 2% false positives on anything are MUCH WORSE than 98% true positives. 20% false negatives are fine, no one cares much. “AI” forces responses, and nothing returns 100% true positives. Ergo, laughable crap.
OK this is the mind-blowing image of the week for me: the total global biomass of mammals.
Wild animals are a tiny proportion.

Knowing something, even being a true subject matter expert in that thing, is not the same as knowing how to represent that knowledge in ways that are computable. You first must be able to ask and answer Who are you and why do you want to know?
Also, a hot dog IS a sandwich and a burrito is not.
ok i have another quote tweet prompt. what's something, big or small, related to your job or hobby, that most people don't know that you would like to have them know? it can be a concept, a piece of history, some vocabulary, or something else.
