Cereal is just badly made gravy. oatmeal is slightly-better-made gravy I haven't had congee either. … You may have been doing oatmeal AND grits wrong ( : I've never had grits, to be honest. The best grits are ~75% butter That bit i knew. I have also watched the savory/sweet arguments. Which I have also seen with oatmeal. Polenta is not grits either. Although I have had polenta. Grits texturewise is closer to cream of wheat, I thought. They're delicious... especially as a vehicle for gravy, or a runny egg.
