We're rolling out email verification in the latest Bluesky app release (1.52), as part of a larger effort to improve account security and authentication on the network.
Update and verify your email in Settings. In the coming days, you'll also receive an in-app prompt to verify your email.
If you've lost access to your account email or made a typo when you signed up, you can update your email in Settings now.
To make more changes to your email after you've already verified it, you will need to provide a confirmation code from your verified email to confirm the change.

That’s going to present a real problem in the future for some poor souls if there isn’t also another way to prove verification.
With the account portability features then if you have your account recovery key you can transparently move your content to a different account (likely at a different server, which would work better if your handle is on your own domain) so you're still not locked out
Thanks. I searched Bluesky Help, nothing there about a recovery key. Not sure I understand why someone locked out here would benefit by moving their content elsewhere, even if they could?
Your account ID is tied to a "DID" with a cryptographic keypair, not the host server. If you move then your friends and followers will transparently follow you on your new host server, and like email you can still talk. It will require federation to be live (it's just on the test net right now)
So people won't be dependent on a single main server (like Twitter) to remain reliable and trustworthy forever because you can move around and still use the network as before
How many emails do you send to unverified ones that may be typos? More than zero is too many. Because I have a very short iCloud name and typos from all over the world happen regularly. And let me tell you: those unsolicited (by me) and sometimes persistent "Welcome!" emails are EXTREMELY annoying.
Confirmation codes never arrive. Not in my inbox, nor in the spam folder, etc Not using Windows, nor using macOS, iOS, Android, or whatever. Your "security" system sucks 🤬
Is there ANY other way to change your password than to log out and chose "forgot password" when you try to login again? I'm not getting a code in my mail no matter how many times and different ways I try, so logging out to reset my password effectively locked me out of my account in that browser.
I am being asked to confirm through my old email when I want to change it to a new email, but I have already lost access to my old email. Could you please assist me in resolving this issue?

The email verification system has a technical problem as the verification code always arrives only about 30 min after the request to send it in my mailbox. When I then enter the code, the system notes that the token is expired. have don this now several times and ave to give up for the moment.....
Are you also rolling out invites? Because although I have no invites yet, there always was a little note saying I'd get some soon. Now that is gone....
