That’s a really sweet story! I don’t often miss the game itself, but I miss the stories stolen for ourselves out of silly in-jokes or meeting strangers or passing through quiet cities when everyone else was asleep, and chatting in pink whispers.

It’s weird that it’s easier for people to believe in sprawling networks of people cooperating for a common goal than a bunch of people who don’t care about the rules all getting ahead on their own, because they don’t care about the rules.

That sounded sarcastic but I meant it sincerely—the conspiracist worldview doesn’t lend itself to cooperation or collaboration in any other context but black helicopters and the Illuminati. Mutual aid? Impossible. NASA faking the moon landing for sixty years? Yup!

That Judge Holden piece is amazing. The passage that always sticks out to me is Holden copying down petroglyphs in his notebook and then scratching them off the cave wall.
