This is awful, and I suspect there are a few more US allies who do similar things. This ought to be a focus of serious pressure diplomacy or otherwise cost regimes who do this.

At one of my previous employers I worked with one of the big Indian IT outsourcing firms: The amount of increased infighting due to the party political polarization was insane.

It changed markedly during the 2019 reelection campaign of Modi and never went back down.
