The both sidesing going on here, the "I don't understand why an ideology that pushes male dominance attracts men who want to dominate women", the suggestion that the problem was the internet and not the ideology itself... I'm not sure either the author or Southern have learned anything.

The total cost of cancelling three waters, replacing the iRex project, stopping and restarting school builds, cancelling public transport subsidies and projects, and ditching smoke free legislation is going to be a gargantuan $ compared to one year of extremely small tax cuts.

A long one on how claims in the UK media turn into op eds in the NZ media and why there's a double standard for facts when it comes to trans right. I cover some Cass, but just some numbers to disprove the 1000 families nonsense. www.1of200.nz/articles/med...

In his recent rant, Russell Coutts said "The Hector's dolphin is not an endangered species as Otago university professor Liz Slooten recently claimed. That was a lie." But it's Coutts that is lying. Hector's Dolphin is endangered according to the IUCN Red List. Coutts owes Prof. Slooten an apology.

Interesting that according to Nats, Supermarkets wouldn't pass GST on fruit and vege savings on to consumers, but landlords will definitely pass their interest deductibility savings on to renters. #nzpol

It never stops being darkly funny how the same people who insist gender is inborn and immoveable are also the same people who claim your manhood can be taken from you for the smallest things: Eating ice cream or soup. Crossing your legs. Being nice to a woman.

Australian consultancy firm Taylor Fry modelled the idea that those on the supported youth benefit could spend 13-24 years of their working life on a benefit and Christopher Mark Luxon has been going around stating it was the current reality to justify his attack on beneficiaries. #nzpol 🇳🇿
Turns out the average time spent on the Jobseeker benefit is "no more than three years" - nowhere near the 13 to 24 years that Luxon claims. #nzpol #AoNZ www.thepost.co.nz/politics/350...

And if that original founding document is "we are presently different peoples, but we are now forming a new political unit together", and then you democratically void that... well then you've just voided the very thing that gives legitimacy to political unit in the first place.

David Seymour's argument for denying the vote to 16 and 17 year olds is basically that they shouldn't be allowed to vote because he doesn't think they'll vote for right wing parties. Seymour is anti-democracy.

“Deplatforming Nazis makes the Nazi problem worse” is demonstrably wrong. There’s endless evidence and studies and data and proof that not giving Nazis a platform and forcing them into silent obscurity works to fight the Nazi problem. Anyone saying otherwise just likes Nazis.

Since antivaxers are trying to frighten people with "look at all the days of high deaths in the last few years" using their illegally obtained health records, I have done a quick graph from public weekly data to show how misleading they are being. Made at speed but not in haste.

So Nat/ACT/NZF claim that we can't limit tobacco sales because corner dairies will go bust, but also lower nicotine limits alone will kill smoking. Surely if nicotine limits alone will kill smoking then the diaries that allegedly depend on tobacco sales will go bust anyway, no?
